HTC One Officially Launches in India
Despite not having too big a presence in India – as this infographic shows – the fledgling company has launched their flagship in India. The device is slated for an “end of April” release for a decent price of RS42,900, which isn’t too bad for a smartphone like this. HP’s Slate 7 Goes up For Pre-Order in France for €150
When HP announced the Slate 7 at MWC, it was strange to see them announce a tablet that already look out of date but, to then delay the device made matters worse. Now though, the 1204 x 600 7-inch Slate 7 is up for pre-order in France. Considering the Nexus 7 is available in France, it might be worth spending the extra to get a hold of the Google Experience.
Vodafone to Offer 4G Service Down Under Come June
For our Australian readers, the choice between 4G carriers might get that little bit more difficult this summer when Vodafone launch their own 4G Network in June. It’s not all great though, as Vodafone aren’t the best choice in Australia, Telstra still remaining a solid choice, and they’ve had 4G for a long time now.
O2 Customers Now Given Access to Virgin Media’s Tube WiFi; For Freeeee
WiFi in the UK is pretty abundant but, down in the London Underground, you’ve got to pay for WiFi or live without the internet during those horrendous commuter hours. Well, O2 customers fear no more! You’ve been automatically registered for free access on Virgin Media’s WiFi network on the Underground! The last 12 stations will be added soon as well, adding to the already pretty decent station list.
The Galaxy S IV Could Be Hitting India This Month of Just RS 40,000
While the Galaxy S IV might not be the fresh, new experience a lot of people were hoping for, it’s certainly a good device and there’s nothing to suggest that it won’t be just as successful as the S III. What might help it in India however is that it’s rumored to carry a price tag of just RS 40,000 and be launching April 25th. That’s not exactly cheap but, it’s not a lot of money for a high-brand smartphone like the Galaxy S IV, and it’s also cheaper than the HTC One.

For those looking for a quality smartphone but don’t want to pay a lot for one in India, there might be some hope in the form of the HTC One X and One X+. Both devices have recently faced a price slash as the company gets ready to launch the One in the region. The Original One X, has seen a price drop from RS32,000 to RS25,990, and as for the One X+, it’s been dropped from RS38,550 to RS29,500. If you’ve been waiting for a decent handset to turn up at a decent price, these two devices could well make your decision a little more difficult.
EE Promise to Double 4G Speeds in More Than a Handful of UK Cities
In the UK, EE are currently the only 4G network, with O2 and others coming up this year. However, EE are hoping to solidify their position by doubling their download speeds in a number of UK cities. These cities include the following: Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Leeds, Liverpool, London, Manchester and Sheffield. The doubling is going to come with the network doubling it’s capacity of its 2G and 4G 1800 Mhz spectrum to 20 Mhz. There’s whispers of speeds reaching above 80 mbps but, don’t count on it.
Google Music Launches in More Countries Across Europe, Australia and New Zealand
When Google first launched Google Music, it was a pretty big deal, it was the best music service to come out for a long time and offered far more flexibility than Apple’s iTunes, and was great for those of us with massive music libraries. Problem was, it was only available in the US. Since then, it’s crept its way into other countries and now, Google have announced that the service is now available in the following nations: Austria, Australia, Belgium, Ireland, Luxembourg, New Zealand, and Portugal.
Sony’s Xperia SP Launches in India
Sony are looking to make a name for themselves in the smartphone arena with their Xperia line and one way they’re hoping to do this is to deliver quality mid-range devices. That’s where the Xperia SP comes in and if you’re familiar with it in India, you’ll be happy to know that it’s just launched in your corner of the world for RS 27,940. As you’ll note, this is around the same amount as the recently lowered price for the HTC One X+ so this is going to be a hard sell for Sony, we’re sure.

Samsung’s Galaxy Pocket Neo Headed to the UK

Huawei’s Ascend G510 Hits Vodafone UK
If you were hoping for something a little more “high-end” for Vodafone, this smartphone really isn’t that smartphone. The Ascend G510 from Huawei is a decidedly budget affair, coming in at just £130 to buy outright on Pay as You Go and as little as £13 a month on contract. Specs really aren’t going to blow you away either, with a 4.5-inch display at 480 x 854, a 5MP rear-camera with VGA round the front, a dual-core 1.2 GHz of the MediaTek kind, 512MB of RAM, 4GB of storage and a 1,700 mAh. It does run Android 4.1 but, there’s no telling when or if Huawei will update it any further than that.
Galaxy Mega 5.8 Not to Be Sold in the UK
When Samsung announced their two new massive phones, it was hard to imagine there being a market for them, as they weren’t exactly the most stellar phone to come from Samsung in a while. Regardless though, in the UK Samsung have taken the choice not to sell the Galaxy Mega 5.8, with its larger sibling the 6.3, being available. It’s strange to say the least but, perhaps they wanted to keep the 5.5-inch Galaxy Note II going for as long as they can, it is after all more expensive!
Pantech to Launch 5-inch Smartphone with Little to No Bezel, bring Snapdragon 600 with it?
Pantech might be know very well int he West but in South Korea, they’re a pretty big deal. Which is why the news that the company could be producing a smartphone – dubbed the IM-A860 – with hardly any bezel at all, along with a powerful Snapdragon 600 is pretty exciting. There’s nothing concrete just yet but, Pantech has always been known to do something to set themselves apart from Samsung and LG so, this could become a big phone for Pantech in 2013.
