In many people’s eyes (pun intended), wearable computing is the next big wave in the technology industry, and right now, Google is at the forefront of that advancement. The company officially introduced its Google Glass product at Google I/O 2012 in an elaborate plane jumping demonstration. At I/O, Google allowed members of the press and developers to sign up to receive Explorer Edition of Project Glass, but there was a catch – it costed $1,500. For many people, that was seen as an insanely high price for a product that they had never used. After I/O, the company allowed other people to apply to receive Explorer editions of the glasses for the same price point, and it looks like Google got a good amount of entries.
Google announced on Tuesday that it has stopped accepting entries for its Google Glass Explorer Edition. To replace the application process, Google has offered users the ability to sign up to learn more about Glass when the information is available. If you’re still looking to get your hands on Glass, fret not. Google says there will “more chances to get Glass at a later date.” The company costed the following message on its Google Glass page.

Google also recently closed its #ifihadglass competition on Twitter and Google+, during which it gave out nearly 8000 invitations to purchase the product.
Google announced earlier this year that it will make a consumer version of Project Glass available to the public by year’s end. It’s unclear how much they will cost and what specific tasks they will be capable of performing, though. Recently, controversy has surrounded businesses banning the product from being used inside, and that will undoubtedly be a common problem for Google.
