Next Generation Nexus 7 Expected to Ship 8 Million Units in 2013

The original nexus 7 has been a massive sales success for Google and the next generation is expected to improve upon that even further. Members of Asus’ supply chain have revealed that ASUS will in fact be making the next Nexus 7 model. In addition they estimated that ASUS would ship 12 million tablets in 2013 with 8 million of those being Nexuses.

I’m extremely happy to learn that Asus will continue to manufacture the seven-inch Nexus for Google. The first iteration was an absolutely excellent piece of hardware and along with the kindle fire helped create the thriving seven-inch tablet market we see today. Also ASUS was able to do a much better job than LG at actually shipping their devices. Apple’s iPad Mini is largely regarded to be a response to Google and I expect the new Nexus will blow both the Mini and the Fire out of the Water. The awesome specs rumored in the  next Nexus like the new Qualcomm processor replacing the Tegra 3 from last year, a higher resolution display and a thinner bezel.

The Nexus 7 was the debut device for Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and all signs point to the second generation being revealed at Google I/O in May, alongside android 5.0 Key Lime Pie. The tablet is rumored to come with a price point a whole $50 dollars cheaper than last year at a mind-blowing $150. The next Nexus 7 looks like it just might be the most successful small tablet of 2013. Are you guys pumped for some new Nexus hardware like me? Or does the slashed price point make you worry about potential issues with quality? Sound off in the comment section down below!
