For quite a long time now, we’ve been hearing rumors regarding LG’s next flagship device. The Optimus G originally launched last Fall, and received very positive reviews and went on to be the base of the Nexus 4. Internationally, LG released the Optimus G Pro earlier this year, but the device is just now making it’s way to the United States via AT&T. Now that both models are available here in the United States, it’s time that we move our focus primarily to LG’s next flagship, and thanks to several recent leaks, that’s just what we have been able to do.
The always-up-to-something Twitter leaker @evleaks tweeted another image of a mysterious LG device on Friday afternoon. The device appears to feature an incredible small bezel, much smaller than the one on the Motorola DROID RAZR M, which Motorola marketed as having the smallest bezel of any phone. Evleaks says that current sources say that this device is in fact the Optimus G2, which is what we all thought.
Last week, we saw a different image of an LG device leak, and if you put the two side by side, then you are easily able to tell that they are the same device.
It is widely believed that the Optimus G2 will end up being the base model of the Nexus 5, seeing that the Optimus G was the base model of the Nexus 4. The device, according to several reports, will allegedly feature a Snapdragon 800 processor, which does of course have the ability to record 4K Ultra HD video. There’s also the possibility of the Optimus G2 featuring a flexible OLED display, as the company has said that it is on track to ship a device with a flexible display by the end of the year, but looking at these images, it doesn’t look like the Optimus G2 will be that device.
Right now, we can expect the Optimus G2 to launch in late-Summer or early-Fall, which would put it a couple of months ahead of the Nexus 5, or what ever it will be called.
What do you think of these early images of the Optimus G2? Do you want it to be the base of the next Nexus? Let us know in the comments!
