Here’s some interesting rumors. We’re hearing this afternoon that the Nexus 5 is set to be a mixture of the Nexus 4, Nexus 7 and the LG G2. Reports are claiming that the device will also have the glass front and back similar to the Nexus 4. At least according to The News Tribe.
Ever since the G2 event in New York City, we’ve been hearing all kinds of rumors about the next Nexus, which many have dubbed the Nexus 5. We are pretty confident that it’ll be made by either LG or Motorola. Although yesterday, we got word from Evleaks that the Nexus 5 appears to be a Motorola device. At the G2 press event, LG was asked if they’d do a Google Play Edition of the G2, like the Galaxy S4 and HTC One. That was quickly shot down. Leaving us to think that LG is making the next Nexus and that its being based off of the G2.
We’re hearing rumors that the next Nexus is set to feature a 5.2-inch full HD 1920×1080 resolution IPS display, along with a Snapdragon 800 2.26GHz processor. Unfortunately, or is fortunately? That’s where the similarities seem to end. Sources are claiming that the Nexus 5 design is extremely similar to the Nexus 4. It will continue to sport the glass on the front and back, and have a premium feel. Which is great, since the G2 looks to be made of that shiny, glossy plastic that Samsung uses. And while some of us don’t care, others do. The Nexus 5 will also have the power button and volume rocker where they belong, and not on the back like the G2.
Additionally, the Nexus 5 is reportedly thicker than the G2, and is similar to the Nexus 7 with its thin bezels and body. Reports are also telling us that the Nexus 5 will be the first device shipping with Android 5.0 – Key Lime Pie. We’re expecting an official announcement from Google sometime in October. So we’ll be on the lookout.
Remember these are just rumors and could be completely false. So we urge you to take this with a grain of salt. But in the mean time, what do you want Google to change from the Nexus 4 for the Nexus 5?
