Back at Mobile World Congress, Samsung announced the Galaxy Note 8.0 along with the HomeSync, which was kind of their attempt at Google TV, but without using Google TV. We haven’t heard much about the HomeSync since Mobile World Congress back in February. But today, the HomeSync appeared on Samsung’s website. Notably it says “HomeSync (AT&T)” so we’re assuming ti has LTE connectivity with AT&T. Which doesn’t make a whole lot of sense. Since I doubt many people would be taking this to use outside of their home. Since the name of it is HomeSync.
What is also important to know about this is that it only works with Samsung devices, like the Galaxy S4 or the upcoming Galaxy Note 3. So if you have a Nexus 4, or HTC One, it’s not going to work, unfortunately. The HomeSync is shown as coming with a $50 credit from Samsung which you can use for Samsung’s Media Hub. The HomeSync can be used to sync media between your TV and smartphones. It features a one terabyte hard disk, where you can stream or store media from Samsung’s store or Google Play. It also runs a customized version of Android Jelly Bean. When it was announced it was on Android 4.1. So we’re going to assume it’s still Android 4.1 until we see otherwise.
As usual, availability details are not available at this time. But since the device has been announced, and it’s on the site, we expect it to become available very soon. We’ll be sure to keep you posted on when it becomes available and how much you can expect to pay for the HomeSync. I’d expect HomeSync to be between $99-199. Of course, I could be wrong, it certainly wouldn’t be the first time either.
It’s rather sad that only Samsung devices are compatible with the HomeSync though. We are unsure whether that includes TV sets as well. But that’s a good reason to buy a Samsung device like the Galaxy S4 or Galaxy Note 3 soon. How many of you are going to buy the HomeSync from Samsung?
