Verizon Customers, Ready to #MeetMotoX? August 29th You Can

Last Friday, the Moto X launched on AT&T along with MotoMaker. We all knew it was coming to other carriers like Verizon, Sprint and US Cellular. We just didn’t know when. Well we know that Verizon is launching theirs on August 29th. It’ll be on sale for $199. It doesn’t sound like there is a 32GB Moto X for Verizon, since no one mentioned $249 on contract, which is the price of the 32GB version. Remember that Verizon does not have access to Moto Maker just yet. Right now that’s an AT&T exclusive, so if you want to customize your Moto X, you’ll have to either pick it up on AT&T or wait until Verizon gets it. We’ve heard rumors of it opening  up to everyone on November 1st.

The Moto X comes with many great features like Active Display, the Always listening Google Now, and much more. Not to mention that 90% of the front of the device is display. That’s crazy. In fact, I’m looking at the HTC One Mini right now next to my Nexus 4, and they are the same size, yet the One Mini has a 4.3-inch screen and the Nexus 4 has a 4.7-inch display. The Moto X does have a 4.7-inch 720p AMOLED display, a 1.7GHz Snapdragon S4 Pro, yes that’s dual core, 2GB of RAM, a 2200mAh battery that is said to last 24 hours on mixed use and runs Android 4.2.2. It does not have a microSD card slot though.

There is a Verizon developer edition of the Moto X coming soon, which will include 32GB of storage and an unlockable bootloader. Much like AT&T, Verizon doesn’t support unlockable bootloaders either. But we know that the Android developer community will unlock it sooner or later. It always happens. We haven’t gotten our hands on a review unit yet, but as soon as we do, we’ll let you know whether you should buy it or not. I know it’ll be my next phone, unless the new Nexus is just spectacular. We’ll have to wait and see.

How many of you are going to line up to buy the Moto X on Friday? Or are you waiting on Moto Maker to be available?
