Paranoid Android is one of those custom ROMs out there that’s constantly innovating and coming up with new ideas. The Paranoid Android team has put together an amazing new way of receiving notifications called Halo, and they’ve even shown they can take an amazing idea like Samsung’s multi-window feature and turn it into something unique and even better than the original implementation. Obviously not content with just resting on their laurels, the Paranoid Android team is back again for another new idea, which is a modification of one that Android users have known and loved since its introduction in Android 4.2 Jelly Bean: Quick Settings Tiles! The PA team is about to release beta 3 of Paranoid Android 4+, which is based on Android 4.4 KitKat, and it includes Quick Settings Tiles 3.0, a new way to get to all the settings you use frequently (or infrequently) just a little bit quicker.
Quick Settings Tiles 3.0, also referred to as dual-tiles, allows you to combine tiles in any way you see fit, giving a little toggle button on the top right of the tile to switch between stacked tiles. For instance if you’d like to combine the WiFi toggle and WiFi AP toggle into one it’s a simple click and hold to combine once you’re in edit mode in the quick settings area. You’ll also find that immersive mode has been tweaked in this build of Paranoid Android, and now allows you to choose if you want just the navigation bar, status bar or both hidden while using the phone. There are also some new on-the-spot pop-up preferences dialogs that’ll appear when you perform an action for the first time, such as pulling the notification bar down from the right or left side to get to quick settings. These make nested settings just a little bit easier to find, and all play a part in giving you a better experience over all.
