Rumored Galaxy Grand Lite Appears in new Leak as Galaxy Grand Neo

Whispers of a Galaxy Grand Lite have been spreading around the Internet for some time now, and thanks to a new leak from GSMArena, we’re finding out more about the phone today. Samsung will apparently call this phone the Galaxy Grand Neo, and a lot of its internals will look similar to the original Galaxy Grand. Specifically speaking, that 5-inch display is still there, but you’ll only have 800 x 480 resolution to look forward to. Not the best, but then again, those looking for a budget device can’t exactly expect to be treated to 1080p resolution.

The leaked internal slides – which were sent to GSMArena by an anonymous tipster – also reveal the phone’s other specs. As originally rumored, a quad-core Cortex A7 processor clocked at 1.2GHz will be running the show and working in tandem with 1GB of RAM. Galaxy Grand Neo owners will have 8GB of internal storage at their disposal, though if that amount leaves you wanting, you’ll be able to expand it through the use of a microSD card.

On the back of the device is a 5 megapixel camera with LED flash, with a VGA camera around the front. Users can look forward to HSPA+ compatibility, along with Bluetooth 4.0, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, and Wi-Fi Direct. Somewhat unsurprisingly, there’s a lack of LTE radios mentioned, but again, when cuts need to be made in order to move a phone into the budget range, ditching the LTE radio is a call a lot of manufacturers seem to make. Finally, these slides confirm that the Galaxy Grand Neo will be running Android 4.2 Jelly Bean out of the box.

All in all, the Galaxy Grand Neo has specifications on par with expectations, but there’s one small problem: Samsung’s pricing. GSMArena says this handset will come with a €299 price tag in Europe. That translates to just over $400 US, which could prove to be a roadblock for some consumers. Of course, none of this “official” in the sense that Samsung hasn’t made an announcement, but the look of these slides suggests that a reveal is incoming. Earlier rumors told us we could expect such a reveal at MWC 2014 next month, so perhaps we’re still headed in that direction. Stay tuned.
