LG may have said that they don’t want to make any commitments on guaranteeing Kit Kat updates for any of it’s devices, but that isn’t going to stop them from releasing it to it’s flagships of course. At&t G2 owners may be waking up to a nice little Sunday Surprise as LG has apparently started rolling out Android 4.4 Kit Kat to those who use the handset. At&t seems to be the first carrier to push out the update to G2 users, but they certainly won’t be the last. If you’ve already received your notification about the update, go ahead and tap that button to start and don’t look back. With the obvious changes that come with Kit Kat like the white themed icons and such, you’ll get support for transparent status and nav bars. More importantly though you’ll get to see some significant battery and performance improvements which is always a wonderful thing to have.
Earlier last week we showed you a little video that compared the G2 running Jelly Bean to the G2 running Kit Kat thanks to LG UK, and there were definitely some noticeable speed boosts when doing various tasks that many of us engage in with our devices on a daily basis. The browser worked faster overall, and other apps like the camera opened with a bit more speed then before. You should also see some battery improvements for longer lasting life during the day, which is always nice to see especially if you use your device even moderately.
Immersive Mode can finally be yours, making some apps and games more enjoyable. You’ll also get the support for Google Cloud Print, and apps overall should function at 17% faster speeds as outlined in the video from LG UK. Overall this will be a pretty nice update for LG G2 owners. Although this update is going out to At&t subscribers, other carriers can’t likely be too far behind. Just watch out for the notification icon to hit your status bar up top and feel free to check the settings menu for the update once in a while. Has anyone already installed the update? What is the most noticeable change in speed and performance that you have experienced so far?http://youtu.be/_UcvB4aD0KA
