Galaxy S5 Gets Hands-On Treatment From Samsung

Hands-on videos about the freshly revealed Galaxy S5 will be in short supply for some to come, but today Samsung is offering up its own in-depth look at the new flagship device. In a video posted to the Samsung Mobile YouTube page, we get succinct run down of many of the new features the Galaxy S5 brings to the table. It might be a little more enthusiastic than most other hands-on videos you’ll see, but as a piece of advertising, it gets the job done. The video – which weighs in at just over three minutes long – covers most of the key talking points, beginning with the perforated rear cover, which Samsung says “provides a modern and glam look.” We get to hear about the home button which doubles as a fingerprint scanner, and the 5.1-inch 1080p Super AMOLED display. The hands-on video touches on the Galaxy S5’s ultra power saving mode, billed as a feature that allows users to “conserve battery to its maximum.”

A lot of screen time is given to the Galaxy S5’s 16MP camera and the features that come along with, so those who want a good sensor on their device will have a lot to look forward to with this video. We also hear plenty about the fitness related apps and features included with the Galaxy S5, with Samsung’s new line up of smartwatches even making an appearance. As interesting as all of that is, we don’t hear much about the hardware that’s under the hood, and it’s safe to assume that the technophiles among us would have appreciated more details on things like the CPU and RAM.

Regardless, this is a pretty good run down of some the Galaxy S5’s more notable features. Naturally, there’s no talk of price, but hopefully we’ll be finding out about that soon enough. After all, the Galaxy S5 is headed for an April launch, so there’s only a handful of weeks left to dish out new details. For now, though, we’ll have to be content with Samsung attempting to woo us through advertising about all of the new features while brushing talk about the price under the rug.
