Just yesterday, soak test invites went out for the AT&T Moto X soak test, and today the update has been approved by AT&T. We’ve already seen the update roll out for Sprint, T-Mobile and US Cellular. Now it’s AT&T’s turn. As expected, with a small update – Android 4.4 to Android 4.4.2 – the changelog is pretty minor and is mostly bug fixes and stability enhancements. We don’t actually have the changelog yet, but We’re sure it’s the same as the Verizon, T-Mobile and Sprint version’s changelog.
In this update Motorola has improved the phone dialer application performance, improved sync of email attachments, enhanced on-device security, improved connectivity when roaming, as well as improving battery life. Which was the major point of this update, however on other carriers it appears that the battery life issues still persist. Motorola and Verizon also added some ISIS Mobile Wallet enhancements.
The soak test should be starting up today or tomorrow and as long as everything goes well, we may see the update rolling out by the end of this week or early next week. As we always do, we’ll be keeping you up-to-date with what’s going on with this update for the AT&T Moto X. We should be seeing Motorola work on the DROID Maxx, DROID Mini, and DROID Ultra updates as soon as this is pushed out to everyone, as this is the last Moto X to get the Android 4.2.2 update.
On other carriers, like T-Mobile and Sprint, the update was a welcomed improvement, but Motorola still has some work to do as far as getting back the battery life that the Moto X had on Android 4.2.2. It’s still great battery life, but not what Moto X owners are used too, unfortunately.
