With all the hype about the new HTC One M8, HTC and the carriers haven’t forgotten about you folk that are carrying those older devices. We know that some of you have been dying to get your hands on some fresh chocolaty kit kat love for some time now, and AT&T along with HTC are happy to inform all of us that the update for the HTC One Mini to Android 4.2.2 will begin hitting devices sometime this week. It’s only Tuesday so far, so that leaves plenty of time in the week for this to roll out to devices nationwide. Feel free to start hitting your check for updates button within the system settings of your phone, but otherwise if you’re a patient person you can just wait for the notification to hit your status bar.
With the update to the latest version of Kit Kat on its way to the One Mini this week, the last thing for those devices to wait for will be the update to HTC’s new version of the Sense UI, Sense 6.0. We know that the Sense 6 update is scheduled to hit HTC One devices sometime between May and June according to the leaked update schedule from yesterday, with the One Mini scheduled to receive it one month later. Which means sometime between June and July. In the meantime while you’re all waiting for the update to Sense 6, this update to Android 4.4.2 will include Sense 5.5. If the update schedule is correct on when Sense 6 begins rolling out to HTC One Mini devices, users on AT&T won’t be on Sense 5.5 for very long before they’re upgraded to a newer and more fluid version of the user interface.
The kit kat update is really nothing new, and some of you are probably already on kit kat with a custom ROM. However, having a locked down timeframe for updates to newer versions of software with all kinds of goodies is always exciting, even if we knew it was officially coming. Do you use an HTC One Mini on AT&T? If so are you looking forward to finally getting that 4.4.2 kit kat update or have you already flashed a custom ROM because you were tired of waiting?
