HTC released their 2013 flagship device back in March of 2013. At initial release, the M7 was available in glacial silver, and black. Then in July of 2013, HTC released the red variant of the One M7. However that was only available on Verizon. The last color to be released was blue, and that was available in September 2013. The blue was available on all US carriers-except for T-Mobile-and only at Best Buy stores. HTC then released their follow up flagship the HTC One M8 in three colors, gold, silver and gunmetal grey. Just like before, they are releasing more colors, next in line are red and gold, with both new colors going on sale Thursday, June 5th in Verizon stores everywhere.
This isn’t the first time we have seen an image of the HTC One M8 sporting a red finish. In late April, press renders were leaked, and it was said to be headed to Verizon-soon. Now the two new colors have been made official by Verizon and they’ll be launching later this week for general sale. Verizon is running a Father’s Day promotion at the moment, with $100 off any smartphone $199.99 or over, which means you could pick up your old man a nice, shiny new M8 for Father’s Day if you’re a good son or daughter, that is.
Overall the device is not expected to have anything different inside-this will not be like the Harmon Kardon edition M8. The specs include the same 5-inch display, Snapdragon 801 processor, 2GB of RAM and the 4 UltraPixel Duo camera as the original M8. While there are sure to be a few more variants of the M8 that will tote different specs and hardware later on this year. We reviewed the HTC One (M8) earlier in the year. So what do you think? Are you holding out to see what else is coming from HTC, or were you waiting to choose from either the red or gold options?
