HTC has officially released a new addition to the One family of devices in India. This new device aims to be fashionable, affordable and still carry with it everything the One series is known for-design quality. The device is the HTC One E8 and Will be available soon in India.
While this device is only one letter off of the latest flagship device from HTC-the HTC One M8- there are plenty of physical differences. The E8 is made of a polycarbonate body with Corning Gorilla glass as the display. The display is a 5-inch 1920x1080P Full HD display, that shares the front of the device with the dual front facing speakers that have become a staple for HTC devices. Another feature you’ll find on the front is what HTC has given a new name to and says it’s new to the entire One family-Selfie Perfection.
The front-facing camera is a 5MP camera, much like we’ve seen on other One devices. However according to HTC this new front facing camera comes with “Built-in Touch Up software [that] balances skin tones while retaining your genuine look.” On the back side of the E8 is a 13 MP shooter, which is another separation from the usual Ultra Pixel camera that HTC has worked with in the past. The E8 also comes with a quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor, 2GB RAM, 16GB storage with the option to expand to 128GB, and a 2600mAh battery. The E8 will come with Android Kit Kat 4.4 and Sense 6, and dual SIM capabilities. The specs of the E8 point towards a higher mid-range device, but the design is where HTC wants the focus to be.
The design of the device seems to combine that of the One family, with the Desire family of devices. The E8 is available in a range of colors Electric Crimson, Polar White, Misty Gray and Maldives Blue. While the names of the colors seem a bit daunting, the device aims to be more stylish and accessible than the previous One flagship devices. President of HTC South Asia said, “The HTC One (M8) set a new smartphone standard and now we’re taking it in another exciting direction. Combining style and substance, the HTC One (E8) represents the incredible experience people expect from a HTC One device with a look and feel that’s unlike anything else out there today. If you’re looking for the best flagship smartphone experience, but want to stand out from the crowd, this is the phone for you.”
The HTC One E8 is only available in China and India as of today. The pricing in India is Rs. 34,900 and will be available to purchase in India by the end of the month. It’s unlikely that we’ll see this device here in the US under any “official” capacity.
