Oppo held an event in Singapore lately where they announced 2 new Oppo smartphones. Oppo N3 is company’s new flagship while the Oppo R5 is a rather powerful device and the new king of slim devices in the world. Oppo N3 is a rather beastly handset which sports a 5.5-inch 1080p display, 3GB of RAM and an auto-rotating 16-megapixel camera on the top of the device. On the other hand, Oppo R5 has a somewhat more modest specifications, this handset features a 5-inch 1080p display, 2GB of RAM and a 13-megapixel snapper on the back. Both of these handset sport premium build quality and are priced rather high, $649 and $449 respectively. Neither of these smartphones are available for sale at the moment though, they will be in the following months. China will be the first destination for both of these handsets and Oppo is yet to announce detailed availability.
This Chinese manufacturer also announced a bunch of accessories for these handsets, the device we’ll talk about today is a part of that announcement. I’m talking about an Oppo O-Band fitness tracker. It seems like everyone is releasing fitness trackers these days so Oppo decided to board that train and do the same thing. O-Band is a rather basic fitness tracker which tracks your steps and calories. It is made out of aluminum and silicone rubber and it has a dot-matrix display on top which tells you the time, how many steps you’ve taken and how many calories you’ve burned. O-Band features a 5 x 19mm LED Dot-matrix display on the top and is powered by a 55mAh battery. O-Band connects to your smartphone via Bluetooth 4.0 and charges via 3 pogo pins on the back of the fitness tracker. O-Band is currently available in China, but it should come to Europe and the US soon. Expected price is around $65-$70, which is rather pricey for a device like this if you ask me, but we’ll see.
