Motorola’s 2nd-gen Moto X handset was announced and launched back in September in the U.S., while the handset made its way to other markets soon after that. The handset still didn’t reach China though, but everyone is expecting it to do that in the coming weeks / months considering Motorola said the phone will launch in that Asian country. We’ve heard all sorts of rumors regarding this launch, but most of them were price adjacent. This time around we get yet another price estimate, but we also get a general timeframe when the device might launch.
The latest report from China claims the device will cost at least 3,600 Yuan ($581), though looking at this report, it seems like that’s a rough estimate of the phone’s cost, it could end up costing significantly more. Previous rumors were saying the phone will cost at least 4,000 Yuan ($645), so I’m not exactly sure what to believe, because this is a significant difference between pricing of this handset. The other part of this report claims that the device will launch in time for China’s Spring Festival, which is also known as the Chinese New Year. This even is going to take place on February 19th 2015, so it seems like Chinese consumers won’t be able to get the Moto X that soon after all.
Motorola Moto X features a 5.2-inch 1080p (1920 x 1080) AMOLED display along with 2GB of RAM for your multitasking needs and 16 or 32GB of non-expandable storage. The device is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 801 processor and it ships with 13 and 2-megapixel camera sensors. The 13-megapixel sensor can be found on the back of the device and is flanked by a dual-LED flash, while the 2-megapixel sensor is located on the front of the phone, above the screen. Motorola Moto X ships with Android 4.4.4 KitKat, but it can already be upgraded to Android 5.0 Lollipop, not to mention we’re talking about Google’s stock experience here with the addition of only a few Motorola applications on top of it. This basically means you’ll get a great user experience out of this device. Anyone out there waiting for this thing to launch in China?
