Back at CES, you may remember that Dish Network and Sling made a pretty big announcement. It was for Sling TV, which is basically giving you cable TV without the cable box, or the cable company. You’re getting a slew of channels available for $20/month along with a bunch of other add-on packs that $5 each per month. It’s a pretty good deal, and where it is still pretty new, Sling is working on improving it and making it even better.
Today, Sling is announcing Support for the Xbox One. So now you’ll be able to watch Sling TV through your Xbox One. Still no word on the Sony PlayStation 4, but I’m sure support will be forthcoming for the PlayStation 4.
Of course that’s not all. Sling TV has also added A+E Networks’ channels, which include A&E, History, H2, and Lifetime. These will be available before the end of March, and will be part of the “Best of Live TV” core package. Which means they will be part of that $20/month and will not be an extra $5 add-on pack. Speaking of add-on packs, Sling is also announcing two new add-ons. One is the “Lifestyle Extra”, which includes truTV, Cooking Channel, DIY, and WE tv, with FYI and LMB coming in the near future. Those of you into March Madness, a number of games in the NCAA Tournament are going to be on truTV. The second add-on pack is “World News Extra” which brings you Bloomberg TV, HLN, Euro News, France 24, NDTV 24/7, News 18 and Russia Today.
Sling is stating that these two packs replace their originally offered “News & Info Extra” that just offered the Cooking Channel, DIY, Bloomberg TV and HLN. Those that have already subscribed to the “News & Info Extra” pack will be gaining the “Lifestyle Extra” and “World News Extra” packs for a total of $5 per month, while the “News & Info Extra” will be no longer available for purchase.
