Round about this time every week the updates to various Google apps and services begin to commence. This morning, it has already been reported that Google have announced an update to the stable version of the Chrome Browser android app, which brings the current version of Chrome up to Chrome 42 and in line with the beta version as well as Chrome on other platforms. Not to mention, this morning Google has also announced the winners of their recent Google Fit Developer Challenge which saw twelve new third party apps compatibility with the Google Fit API being made available via the Play Store.
Well, the latest coming from Google is in terms of one of their own apps which has now been published on the Play Store. The App in question is Google Handwriting Input. Luckily, the name of the app is extremely self-explanatory and as such will not need too much of an introduction. That said, to briefly introduce the app, Google Handwriting Input, allows users to use your handwriting to input instead of having to type using an inbuilt keyboard.
Of course, everyone will be immediately questioning how effective the identification of handwriting will be. Well, in answering, it looks like Google has invested in this option and initial impressions is that it looks pretty accurate. The app is able to distinguish between print and cursive and will also recognize hand drawn emoji. Not to mention, the app listing states that the app can recognize 82 different languages. In fact, the Google listing even challenges those who consider their handwriting to be bad, to give the app a try. The keyboard works just like any other keyboard and as such you can simply switch between the options in your settings menu, including the ability to start a message with one keyboard and finish with another. In terms of availability, the app is stated to work on all android smartphones and tablets running Android 4.0.3 and up. So all in all not too bad.
