Samsung is well-known for releasing a ton of smartphones a year, and even though the company has promised to cut back on the amount of different sub-brands they release (and they quite probably have), this Korea-based tech giant is still pushing a lot of such devices out to the market. Samsung has a tendency of releasing a flagship (like the Galaxy S6), and then create a number of sub-brands for that device, like the ‘Active’ and ‘Neo’ for example.
That being said, we still haven’t seen the Galaxy S5 Neo being launched, and there were some rumors that its release has bene cancelled. Well, it seems like that’s not the case, at least not according to SamMobile. The source claims that Samsung will release the Galaxy S5 Neo, and that the phone will sport a 5.1-inch 1080p (1920 x 1080) Super AMOLED display along with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. The phone will be powered by Samsung’s Exynos 7580 64-bit octa-core processor along with a Mali-T720 GPU. The 2,800mAh battery will also be a part of this package, and on the back of the device you’ll find a 16-megapixel camera. The 5-megapixel snapper will be available up front, and the device will arrive in both single and dual-SIM (SM-G903FD) variants. This phone will offer 4G LTE connectivity, will measure 142 x 72.5 x 8.1 and weight 145 grams. Another thing worth mentioning, is that both of its camera sensors are manufactured by Samsung (ISOCELL units), which is something the company is doing more frequently lately, though they’re still using Sony’s camera sensors as well.
The dual-SIM variant of the device will likely be released in India, China and Russia, and the phone will run Android 5.1 Lollipop out of the box with Samsung’s TouchWiz UI installed on top of Google’s operating system. We still don’t know when Samsung plans to release this device, but it’s highly likely it will arrive in the coming weeks. The pricing is currently unknown too, but we’ll report back as soon as some additional details surface, so stay tuned for that.
