Xiaomi Mi 5, Mi 5 Plus Might Sport Bezel-Less Displays

Xiaomi is China’s number one smartphone manufacturer, and this company has released a lot of devices this year. A number of smartphones have come from Xiaomi, as well as a number of other smart devices. The company has already unveiled their Mi Note and Mi Note Pro flagships in January, but the company is expected to announce their ‘true’ flagship later this year, the Mi 5. The Mi 4 was Xiaomi’s 2014 flagship, while Mi Note and Mi Note Pro are actually phablets, not smartphones, so they don’t exactly belong in the same category. Anyhow, we’ve seen a number or leaks and rumors when it comes to the Mi 5, and now we have yet another piece of the puzzle to share with you.

According to a new rumor from China, the Xiaomi Mi 5 will be powered by the Snapdragon 820 SoC, and same can be said about the Mi 5 Plus which is also expected to see the light of day later this year. The two devices are expected to be launched in November according to the rumor, which means that Xiaomi has altered their release schedule a bit because of the Mi Note and Mi Note Pro announcements. The Mi 4 was announced last July, and the Mi 5 will be released a couple of months later. The report also states that both the Mi 5 and Mi 5 Plus will feature a full-metal build and a bezel-less display. We don’t have that much information regarding the aforementioned Snapdragon 820 at the moment, but that chip will most likely be built using the 14nm FinFET process, and the chip is expected to arrive in Q4 this year.

The Xiaomi Mi 5 is expected to feature a 5.2-inch QHD (2560 x 1440) display along with 3 or 4GB of RAM (two versions) and 16 and 64GB of internal storage. The 3GB variant is expected to ship with 16GB of in-built storage, while the 4GB variant will quite probably sport 64GB of storage. The 16-megapixel camera will quite probably be located on the back of the Mi 5, and the device will be really thin, 6.1mm thick according to the latest info. The Mi 5 Plus, on the other hand, is rumored to feature a 6-inch QHD display, 4GB of RAM and a 20-megapixel rear-facing shooter. The Xiaomi Mi 5 is rumored to be priced around $371. Stay tuned for more info, we’ll let you know as soon as something pops up.
