The race to the bottom has really started to heat up in recent months and even years. A smartphone maker out of Miami, Florida has been making cheap smartphones for years. Many refer to these as “burner phones”. Today, they announced three new smartphones, all running Android 5.0 Lollipop.
First up is the BLU Vivo Selfie. This smartphone features a 4.8-inch Super AMOLED 1280×720 resolution display, a quad-core 1.3GHz processor, along with 1GB of RAM, along with 8GB of storage. We also have 8MP cameras on the front and back. Considering this called the “Vivo Selfie”, the focus here is on the front-facing camera. Which also has a flash on the front. So you are able to take some pretty decent selfies with this smartphone. The Vivo Selfie also comes with a selfie stick – that needs to be charged. It’s an extendable selfie stick that can be used to take wider angle selfies. Additionally, there is a button to press to take the selfie. Making it easier to take one using the selfie stick.
Next up is the BLU Energy X Plus. This is sort of a follow up the BLU Studio Energy that was announced at CES earlier this year, with a 5,000mAh battery. The Energy X Plus features a 4,000mAh battery inside. It also has a 5.5-inch 1280×720 IPS display, and is powered by a 1.3GHz quad-core processor. Inside we have 1GB of RAM with 8GB of internal storage. There is also a microSD card slot inside, that supports up to 64GB of additional storage. As far as cameras go, we’re looking at a 8MP rear-facing camera and a 5MP front-facing camera. It also comes in silver, gray and gold, similar to the iPhone.
Finally, we have the Studio C 5+5. This is another 5-inch device, this time with a FWVGA IPS display, it’s also sporting a 1.3GHz quad-core processor paired with a gig of RAM and 8GB of internal storage. BLU has also added 5MP cameras on both the front and back. And it sports Android 5.0 Lollipop.
All three of these devices are using the MediaTek MT6582 processor. The Vivo Selfie will be on sale starting today for $149, with the Energy X Plus for $139 and the Studio C 5+5 for $89. BLU is also offering a LTE version of the Studio C 5+5 for $99. All of which will be available on Amazon.
