Google "Pay With A Photo" Coming July 29th

One of the big announcements which came from this year’s I/O event was Google’s new take on how you pay using your android device, Android Pay. To be clear, this was more of an expected announcement than a surprise one as the idea of Google bringing a new mobile payment option had long been rumored and speculated upon in the months leading up to the event. In fact, it was largely understood that Android Pay was going well with a number of manufacturers, carriers and retailers seemingly all onboard. This point proving to be one of the main differences between the launch of Android Pay and Google’s previous attempt at a mobile payment solution, which never saw a wide enough adoption to be a mainstay.

Of course, besides the announcement, very few details were actually announced and as such, little was known about what to expect from the new payment solution. Well, interestingly, the folks over at Google have released a new video to YouTube today which is starting to reveal a few more details and teases something very interesting. The video is insanely short but does seem to focus on paying for items with your android device. In fact, the big reveal within the video, is that towards the end of the video, a sticker on the window can be clearly seen detailing that you can pay using a photo. More specifically, you can pay using Google Photos. How this will work remains unknown, although the brief attached to the video description does state to follow @GooglePhotos on twitter for more information.

For those who’s interest is being sparked by the idea of paying by using Google Photos, the description also does read that it is coming to NYC on July 29th. So it should not be too long before more details are known and all is made clear. Lastly, it is worth pointing out that the video seems to focus on waffles and is titled to represent this waffle influence. Although, waffle reads as “Wafel” in the title. Clue perhaps? You can check out the very brief video for yourself below.
