Today, Motorola has been in town and taking the veils off a few of their 2015 upgraded devices. The event has pretty much come to a close now and finally the speculation surrounding the Moto X and Moto G 2015 editions can also come to a close. That said, it would seem that not everything is as straightforward as it may have seemed earlier.
First up Motorola has announced their latest Moto X device, the 3rd Gen Moto X. However, there is more than one variant. To be clear, there is the Moto X Play, the Moto X Style and the Moto X Pure Edition. Earlier, it seemed that the Moto X Pure Edition was essentially the Moto X Style but with Pure Edition features and therefore, the main difference lay between the Moto X Play and the Moto X Style. With the latter essentially the version touting the best in class specs and heading for the U.S. while the Moto X Play offered some slightly lower specs and features and not heading for the U.S. Well, that is not exactly correct .
What is now known for sure is that the Moto X Pure Edition and the Moto X Style are the same device, the Moto X 2015 (or 3rd Gen if you prefer). This is the one which comes sporting a 5.7-inch QHD display, 21-megapixel rear camera, Snapdragon 808 and 3,000mAh battery. However, they are not going to be marketed in the same locations. The Moto X Style is in fact, the international variant of the Moto X Pure Edition. Therefore if you live in the U.S. and are interested in picking up the next-gen Moto X device, then you will be aiming for the Moto X Pure Edition. If you live outside of the U.S. but are interested in the next-gen Moto X, then you will be aiming or the Moto X Style. So in short, there is essentially three Moto X variants announced today. The more budget spec Moto X Play, the international Moto X Style and the U.S. destined Moto X Pure Edition. Not forgetting, Motorola also announced the next-gen Moto G as well.
