Motorola held a special event today for the launch of a few new products, and while many might have been hoping for the chance to see the successor to the Moto 360, what was unveiled was quite exciting and there were quite a few things to see. Alongside the Moto X Play, Moto X Style, and Moto G 3rd Gen, Motorola showed of a couple of new pairs of headphones this morning called the Moto Surround and the Moto Pulse.
The Moto Surround is basically an updated version of the Motorola Buds which came out a couple of years ago. They have an updated style and a brand new color scheme, but the main base of the headphones still sit comfortably around your neck with an attached set of wired earbuds and controls for volume, calls, and pause/play for tracks on the side. Motorola also gave the Surround some HZO protection which keeps it protected from water and sweat, and the surround has superb battery life and range lasting up to 12 hours on a single charge and it will continue working up to 150 feet away from your device, so you can feel free to walk around the home or do some yard work outside while your phone sits comfortably inside.
The Motorola Pulse was Motorola’s other pair of headphones they had to show off, and these are a more traditional looking pair of headphones. They fit over the ear with soft cushy earcups that pivot and adjust slightly to accommodate fit for the user. Motorola’s boasting powerful sound in a compact and minimal design here, so that’s the takeaway from this particular pair. If you love music and sound and prefer to have good quality audio with plenty of bass, the Motorola Pulse carry oversize 40mm speaker drivers which should be able to deliver pretty decent sound. Battery life on these is a little longer than on the Surround, lasting up to a total of 18 hours on a single charge when listening to music, and they pack easy for travel too with rotating earcups so you can pack them in a bag. It also comes in two colors: Black and White. Both the Surround and the Pulse are using Bluetooth 4.1, and they both sync up with the Motorola Connect app to give users a few more controls, like locating their device should they get lost or stolen. The Motorola Surround are available today for $69.99 while the Motorola Pulse are also available today and be picked up for $59.99, and each headset can be purchased through the Motorola website.
