Samsung are generally known for releasing a variance of smartphones to the market in any given year. While their flagship Galaxy Note and Galaxy S range devices normally attract the majority of headlines, their other more mid-range and budget range devices seem to do rather well and especially in certain markets. That said, the U.S. is a market which does not see too many of the mid-range Samsung devices landing. However, back in April of this year, Cricket Wireless announced that they were the first carrier to bring one of the Samsung mid-range devices to the U.S. shores. This was the Galaxy Grand Prime and followed in the footsteps of what seemed to be a successful launch elsewhere in other regions. In fact, although the device has not been that long on the market, the successor, the Galaxy Grand Prime Value Edition already seems to be en route with a possible launch this month.
Well, following in Cricket’s footsteps, it now looks like Sprint might be preparing to launch the Galaxy Grand Prime on their network too. The information comes from a leaked image sent in to Android Central and details that the Galaxy Grand Prime is due to go on sale via Sprint starting July 10th. In terms of pricing, the Grand prime will be available outright for $240 which is a bit more than the price at which the device did first launch on Cricket Wireless. However, for those wanting a more affordable payment option, the leaked flyer also states the Grand Prime will be available on Sprint Easy Pay with $0 upfront and 24 monthly payments of $10. Resulting in teh same overall $240 price for the device.
If you are in the market for an affordable Samsung device and are (or thinking about becoming) a Sprint customer then the Galaxy Grand Prime might be a good option to go for. In terms of what is on offer with the device, the Galaxy Grand Prime comes equipped with a 5-inch display with a 960 x 540 resolution. Internally, the Grand Prime is loaded with 1.5 GB RAM, a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor, an 8-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front facing camera. Additional feature on offer include, 8 GB internal storage, a microSD card slot (up to 64 GB), Bluetooth 4.0, 4G LTE support and a 2,600 mAh battery. So all in all not a bad device. With July 10th just around the corner, it wont be too long before we find out if the flier and all details are correct.
