Tomorrow, Motorola is announcing their 2015 product portfolio, and we’re expecting the Moto G, Moto X and Moto 360 to be announced in NYC. We’ve been seeing tons of leaks of the Moto G, and it appears that the device is going to be going on sale on Wednesday, July 29th. The day after Motorola makes it official. At least this is according to a inventory memo sent to Three UK employees, that Android Authority got their hands on. According to the memo, stores are getting salable units as well as demo and dummy units. They are shipping 800 salable units to each store that will arrive tomorrow. And the memo asks them not to sell ahead of the launch date of July 29th.
Additionally, this leak pretty much confirms Moto Maker support for the “Moto G 4G”. As the memo states that each store has been shipped around 1200 vouchers for people to buy their Moto G in store and customize it online. Similar to what Motorola did here in the US with the first Moto X, when Moto Maker first launched. The memo doesn’t state what colors they will have in stock, however. They will likely have black and white models of the Moto G in stock, as those are the most common.
When the Moto 360 landed on Moto Maker a few months ago, we pretty much knew that everything from Motorola would be customized through Moto Maker in the future. Which is a great thing. Being able to choose what color you want your phone to be, the materials, the storage, etc., is all a great choice for consumers to be able to have. While we probably won’t see leather or wood backs for the Moto G, it’s still a great thing for it to be in Moto Maker.
According to the specs we’ve seen leak for the Moto G 2015 in recent days, it looks like it’s going to be a pretty decent upgrade from last year’s model. We’re hearing the display will be full HD (1920×1080), as well as a better camera. About 13MP on the back with a 5MP front-facing camera. There’s also leaks that point to a 8GB version with 1GB of RAM and the 16GB version coming with 2GB of RAM. We’ll find out everything tomorrow! So stay tuned!
