Verizon's Go90 Mobile Video To Launch Before The Fall

There have been reports in the past that Verizon was working on breaking into a mobile video service. This shouldn’t come at very much surprise as Verizon acquired OnCue, the internet-based video service from Intel in the past and we’re finally going to see some of those assets put into play soon. According to recent reports, Verizon will be launching their internet-based video service titled Go90 by the end of this summer and with the announcement, there are a few select networks that will be supplying content to the service upon its release into the mobile markets.

As mentioned, Verizon purchased Intel’s internet-based video service known as OnCue and last year Verizon’s CEO Lowell McAdam had reported that Verizon would be launching a new video service by mid-2015 which would be built through the OnCue assets. Sources stated that when Go90 officially launches for the general public that it will be free and that Verizon has been attempting to get the service up and running before but has been delayed multiple times. A  pre-launch staging website was recently discovered that shed some light on a few more details of what Go90 will offer. Some of the content which Go90 will cater to is live music, exclusive events, web content, sports, and primetime television shows. Verizon has made mention of some of the content partners involved with Go90 where content will be available from ESPN, CBS Sports, Vice, NFL, Viacom, among others.

Apparently we won’t be waiting too much longer for the service as Verizon’s CFO Fran Shammo stated during Verizon’s Q2 earnings call that the Go90 video service will be launching towards the end of the summer though it will be an initial launch. As Verizon progresses, more content and features will be updated onto Go90. Furthermore, it looks like Go90 won’t be exclusives to just Verizon customers either. The application will be featured within Google and Apple’s marketplaces to which consumers can download and watch full episodes from some of their favorite prime time television shows although there will likely be exclusive content available for only Verizon customers. Most the news seems to come from sources and a staging website so it will be interesting to see how much holds true when Verizon officially launches Go90.
