QiHoo 360 and Lenovo-backed smartphone startup ZUK is hitting the news for the second time today, but this time around we’re getting a full look at the device. The ZUK Z1, as the company calls its very first device, is slated to make its official debut on August 11th, with a launch to take place presumably shortly after that. While the company was hush about details for quite a while after announcing it we’ve learned a number of details about the device through unofficial rumors and insider channels. Just this morning ZUK’s CEO Chang Cheng revealed the very first professional render of the Z1, specifically of the lower half of the back of the phone.
Now just a few hours later we’re getting much less flattering shots of the device, but this time the entirety of the device is being shown for all to see. China’s TENAA, or the Telecommunication Equipment Certification Center, has certified the ZUK Z1 for everyday use in China and as usual has attached some images of the phone for the certification listing. Thanks to these images we now know exactly what the phone looks like, as well as a few other features we weren’t fully sure of beforehand. As was shown in this morning’s render the back and front are glass with a rounded–off metal frame wrapped around the edges. This gives the device a very Galaxy S6 look and feel, but there’s enough unique here to set it apart.
The dedicated physical home button below the screen is a uniquely sized rectangle with U-Touch fingerprint scanner built in. On the back is a rounded camera lens with what looks to be a dual-color LED flash below it. Both volume rocker and power buttons are located on the right side of the device, with the power button being centered on the side of the device. The dual-SIM tray appears to be on the left side of the device, and unfortunately there’s no view of the top or bottom of the phone although it has the USB Type-C port as shown on this morning’s render. The specs for the ZUK Z1 have been a bit of a mixed bag in rumors and could be powered by either the Snapdragon 810 or its cooler cousin the Snapdragon 808. Last but not least it’s supposedly all run by a 4,100mAh battery which is going to give it some seriously amazing battery life if true.
