Earlier this month Samsung began teasing their upcoming Unpacked event which many believed would showcase the announcements for two of Samsung’s newest phones: The Galaxy S6 Edge+ and the Galaxy Note 5. With Unpacked officially out of the way the Galaxy Note 5 is out in the open, and now all that’s left is to wait for launch times and pricing for release. Samsung has stated that device will be available for purchase online starting August 21st and will also be available in retail stores, luckily for those who want to get a jump start the pre-orders begin today at 3PM EDT, which is 12PM PST for those of us here on the west coast.
Verizon has officially announced they’ll be among the carriers who will be selling the Galaxy Note 5, and that pre-orders begin as the specified time above. When it comes to pricing Verizon subscribers will be able to pick up the Galaxy Note 5 in both the 32GB and 64GB models, either on Verizon’s newly introduced no contract plans with payments on the monthly bill, or at full cost outright. Those plans are live as of today. For those who want to break up the cost, the Galaxy Note 5 will be $29 a month for 24 months for the 32GB model and $33 a month for 24 months for the 64GB model. If you’re looking at going with the full cost option, expect to spend $696 for the 32GB model and $792 for the 64GB model. Verizon is also holding a promotion where customers who purchase the Galaxy Note 5 can trade in an older device and get a minimum of $200. They’re also offering a $100 bill credit for those who switch to Verizon.
As a quick little recap on the featured specifications, the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 features a 5.7-inch Quad HD Super AMOLED display with 518 ppi, and is powered by Samsung’s in-house Exynos 7420 64-bit octa-core processor powering the device, alongside 4GB of RAM, and 32GB or 64GB of internal storage space but no expandable storage. It also features a 16MP OIS rear camera and a 5MP front camera, as well as a 3,000mAh battery to keep it going throughout the day. Samsung has also stated it comes equipped with wireless charging and that wireless charging supports Quick Charge capabilities so it can charge from empty to full in just two hours.
