ASUS Puts Out Their Own Watch Face Customization App

With Android Wear continuing to pick up steam and more watches coming out from more OEMs, it seems more and more apps are making their way to the Android Wear platform which is great news or anyone who already owns a device or is thinking about picking up one of the existing smartwatches. As with regular Android, Android Wear also has a level of customization to it with the many different watch faces available out there including dedicated applications from the OEMs who make the watches, like the recently released Watch Faces for Smartwatch 3 app from Sony. ASUS also just launched their own version of a similar app for the ZenWatch and ZenWatch 2 called ZenWatch FaceDesigner.

If you own one of the Android Wear-based smartwatches from ASUS and you’d like to personalize things a bit, this is an app you may want to consider along any of the standalone watch face apps out there. What’s interesting is that there is actually quite a bit of customization included in the app, from watch face backgrounds to the color of the battery level indicator icon. ASUS also has a small collection of predesigned watch faces available that users can choose from. In addition to giving the user more than a few options for setting up a custom watch face, ASUS boasts that creating something unique to each user is a quick and easy process, and can be completed in just three steps before pressing the “done” button and getting on with your day.

As far as the options go, you can choose the background of the watch face which includes a collection of different picturesque design as well as colors, then you can choose from different tick options (the look of the minute and hour indicators that surround the face) as well as the icon in the middle of the face that the hour and minute hands are connected to which unsurprisingly includes a picture of Zenny, ASUS iconic owl mascot. Once you finish setting up the background you can choose from various analog and digital clock types with different color choices, and lastly you can choose from a collection of different widgets like battery, date, weather and day, all with various color options as well. What’s ironic is that ASUS is focusing on the “three easy steps” it takes to set up the customized design, but it can easily turn into a lengthy affair for anyone who likes to tinker around with customization aspects.
