The Xiaomi Mi 5 is one of the most anticipated devices at the moment. This smartphone was supposed to be announced a couple of months back, but Xiaomi has opted to wait for the Snapdragon 820 SoC to become available. The company’s CEO has said that the Mi 5 is definitely worth waiting for, but that they’re not rushing its release. Recent reports said that the device might launch next month, and January 21st is the rumored date, but nothing is confirmed just yet.
We’ve seen a ton of Mi 5 leaks and rumors in the last couple of weeks, and those rumors included a number of images of the device, including its alleged patent documentation. A number of high-res renders leaked yesterday, revealing the phone’s design, and today we have yet another Mi 5 leak to share with you. The Xiaomi Mi 5 has been shown in a video in China, a video in which you do get a glimpse of the device’s software as well. Now, this video clip once again confirms the design of this smartphone, the extremely thin physical home button is back once again, and you can see how thin the phone’s side bezels are. The Mi 5 is rumored to sport a 5.2-inch 2K (2560 x 1440) display along with 3/4GB of RAM and 32/64GB of internal storage. Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 820 SoC is said to fuel this smartphone along with an Adreno 530 GPU for graphics. The 16-megapixel OIS camera will reportedly going to be located on the back of this smartphone, and an 8-megapixel snapper will be available up front. The 3,030mAh battery will also be a part of this package, and a fingerprint scanner will be implemented in the device’s home button. The phone’s basic price (3GB RAM mode) is said to be 1,999 Yuan ($308) in China, while the higher-end model (4GB of RAM) could cost 2,299 Yuan ($354). The phone is expected to be announced next month, stay tuned.
