Asus Launches ZenWatch 2 In India, Pricing Starts At $180

We’ve seen quite a few smartwatches introduced in 2015, and quite a few of them were powered by Android Wear. Huawei, Motorola, Asus, Sony… and a number of additional companies have released Android Wear-powered devices last year. Asus, in particular, has introduced their ZenWatch 2 smartwatch, a device which is somewhat more affordable than many other Android Wear smartwatches, but it offers just as much in terms of specifications.

That being said, the ZenWatch 2 has been available in a number of regions for quite some time now, but it hasn’t been available for purchase in India, until now. The company has introduced the ZenWatch 2 to the Indian smartphone market today, half a year after its original announcement at Computex 2015 which was held back in June. Asus has unveiled both variants of this smartwatch in India, the Ql501Q model with a 1.63-inch (320 x 320) AMOLED display, and the Wl502Q variant with a 1.45-inch 280 x 280 AMOLED panel. Both of these devices sport a 2.5D curved Corning’s Gorilla Glass 3 protection on top of their displays, and ship with 512MB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage. Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 400 quad-core SoC fuels both variants of this smartwatch, along with an Adreno 305 GPU for graphics. This smartwatch is running Andriod Wear operating system, and is compatible with both Android and iOS. The ZenWatch 2 is water and dust resistant (IP67), and it packs in a 300mAh / 400mAh battery (smaller / bigger variant). The watch is also equipped with Bluetooth 4.1 LE, Wi-Fi, a microphone, and it also has a built-in microphone on its body.

The smaller variant of this smartwatch measures 45.2 x 37.2 x 10.4-11.8mm, while the bigger model comes in at 49.6 x 40.7 x 9.4-10.9mm. The ZenWatch 2 is available exclusively through Flipkart in India, and it comes in several different variants. The 1.63-inch variant can be purchased in Silver variant with Brown Rubber Strap, and Gunmetal variant with Navy Blue Leather Strap. The 1.45-inch model, on the other hand, comes in a Silver case with a Grey Leather Strap. The first variant costs Rs. 11,999 ($180), while the latter two can be purchased for Rs. 14,999 ($226).
