HARMAN, today, has announced their Life-Enhancing Intelligent Vehicle Solution or LIVS, at CES 2016. What LIVS does is it brings discreet or separate connectivity and operational domains together, and is placed under a new holistic automotive computing platform. What this means is that all the computing done by your car can now be done on one platform instead of a few different ones. Currently there are already 25 million cars on the road that use HARMAN connected services, and thus the company leads the industry in end-to-end system integrator for auto makers. This includes under the hood, as well as over the air and in the cabin. Where most users will see the difference with their car. HARMAN will be doing demos of LIVS at CES this week, in the latest Rinspeed Concept Car.
The LIVS platform uses all of the latest HARMAN technologies, HARMAN has over 2,000 patents in all sorts of fields, and can make the intelligent car possible. It uses scalable compute platforms, modular connectivity solutions, state-of-the-art camera-based Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), Personal Component Configuration in the Car, Complete office suite for autonomous vehicle mode, as well as the Comprehensive HARMAN 5+1 safety architecture.
HARMAN says that the LIVS technology is helping to reimagine the intelligent driving experiences. With the latest Rinspeed Concept Car the ∑tos, HARMAN has a suite of technologies that include infotainment, navigation and connected car solutions. Additionally, HARMAN states that this technology can predict the behaviors of the passengers in the car. Passengers are able to communicate with the LIVS system in the ∑tos using their voice, hand gestures, as well as physical controls on the system.
This is the future of driving, according to HARMAN, Phil Eyler, president of HARMAN Connected Car stated that it’s “highly cohesive, personalized, intuitive and adaptive to drivers and passengers”. The HARMAN LIVS platform is able to integrate all of the vehicles functions into one place.
HARMAN will be doing demos of the Life-Enhancing Intelligent Vehicle Solution at CES all week long. We are in Las Vegas for CES and will be getting some hands-on time with it later this week, so stay tuned.
