Impressive Geekbench Results Could Belong To The Huawei P9

Huawei released some impressive devices last year including the Huawei Watch and its solid build quality with premium materials, the Nexus 6P, which is considered to be the among the best Nexus devices ever made and the Huawei Mate S featuring a pressure-sensitive display. The Huawei P8 lineup was released last April, so the launch date for the successors to those phones might be approaching, rumor has it that they might be unveiled in March. The P8 lineup was praised for its simplistic design based on aluminum and powerful internals, so the new phones should improve in those aspects.

We still don’t know many details about the phone although rumors point towards quite a few upgrades including a 5.2-inch QHD AMOLED display and that the device would be powered by Huawei’s HiSilicon Kirin 950 octa-core processor. One rumor mentioned that it could include 6 GB of RAM, while other rumors state that it would include 4 GB of RAM which is the more likely of the two. We’ve even seen a leaked picture of the alleged design of the phone, although it doesn’t look anything like the previous generation and it includes a physical Home button which was missing in the P8 as it uses Android’s on-screen buttons, but the new button might integrate a fingerprint scanner.

Various impressive benchmark scores for an unknown Huawei device have been spotted, and they might as well belong to the upcoming Huawei P9. The device scored 2018 in the single-core test and 7313 in the multi-core test of Geekbench. For comparison, a device running a MediaTek Helio X20 deca-core processor scored 7037 in the multi-core test. The device is powered by a Hi 3650 processor with 8 cores clocked at 1.8 GHz, which matches the specifications of the Kirin 950 chipset. Additionally, 4 GB of RAM are listed as one of the specs, so these two details fit into some of the rumored specs for the Huawei P9. The device runs on Android 6.0, which is expected for most devices that are launching later this year. The Huawei P9 might be launched with some variants with different sizes, but we will have to wait a little longer before all of this becomes official.
