Letv Shipped Over 3 Million Le 1s Handsets Thus Far

Letv has released four devices last year, the Letv Le 1, Le 1 Pro, Le Max and Le 1S. All of this was followed by the announcement of Le Max Pro device earlier this month during CES in Las Vegas, a phablet which is actually the first Snapdragon 820-powered handset. Now, this is not all Letv had to share with us this month, they’ve also announced the re-branding of the company, Letv basically re-branded to LeEco. We’ve shared initial news about this, but are waiting for more information from the company itself in order to see if their existing devices will be re-branded, and whether Letv seizes to exist altogether.

That being said, Letv has reached out to us with some additional news. The company has just announced that the Letv Le 1S handset topped 3 million production units. That being said, it is also worth mentioning that the company sold 4 million handsets in China in 2015, which is a very nice number considering they entered the smartphone business in April last year. Now, Letv has also sent us some ‘aggressive global sales projections’ for 2016, and according to that info, they’re expecting to sell 15 million smartphones this year. This goal is quite realistic considering they were capable of selling 4 million devices in 8 months last year, and were new to the market. Letv is now far better known, and they also plan expansion to new markets this year, including the US. Letv is already selling their accessories in the US, and smartphone will be arriving soon as well.

By the looks of things, Letv’s most successful handset thus far is Letv Le 1S, and the company plans to sell quite a bit more of those in 2016. Their latest Le Max Pro handset is not only powered by the Snapdragon 820, but sports 4GB of RAM on the inside, and is made out of metal. The phone also packs in a 6.33-inch QHD (2560 x 1440) display, and a 21-megapixel rear-facing camera. Android Lollipop comes pre-installed on it with Letv’s custom UI, of course. Now, the company’s devices do look promising, and it will sure going to be interesting to see what can they achieve this year.
