We’ve seen quite a few affordable handsets launched last year, and the vast majority of those arrived from China. This Asian country is home to many smartphone OEMs, and some of them are very well known to the general public. That being said, Xiaomi has kicked off 2016 by releasing the Redmi 3, yet another really compelling, and yet really affordable handset. The Redmi 3 was announced quite recently, and Lenovo didn’t wait for long in order to respond, the company has just announced their new affordable handset which carries the same price as the Redmi 3, read on.
Lenovo has introduced the Lemon 3 handset in China, a smartphone which sports a 5-inch 1080p (1920 x 1080) display along with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of expandable internal storage. The phone is fueled by the Snapdragon 616 64-bit octa-core processor, and a 2,750mAh battery is available on the inside. The 13-megapixel snapper can be found on the back of this device, along with an LED flash, while there’s a 5-megapixel shooter located up front. The phone comes equipped with dual audio speakers by Dolby Atmos, while dual SIM and 4G LTE connectivity options are also available here. If you take a look at the images down below, you’ll get to see that this smartphone is also made out of metal, just like the Redmi 3, and that it sports three capacitive buttons below the display, overview, home and back, respectively. The power / lock and volume rocker physical buttons are placed on the right-hand side of this device, and the phone measures 142 x 71 x 7.9mm.
Now, this is quite obviously a direct competition to the Redmi 3, the two phones are powered by the same chip, sport the same amount of RAM and internal storage, while they’re also carrying the very same price tag. The Lemon 3 offers a higher-res display, but also a significantly smaller battery pack. Now, if you live in China, and you’re in a market for an affordable device, there are plenty of choices available, Redmi 3 and Lemon 3 are just some of those extremely cheap devices. That being said, we still don’t know whether Lenovo plans to launch this handset to the international market, but one thing is for sure, if it launches, it surely won’t be named ‘Lemon 3’.
