The Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas is behind us. We’ve seen various interesting tech during this tradeshow, and it’s time to turn our heads towards the upcoming Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona. MWC will kick off at the end of February, and as it’s the case every year, Samsung is expected to hold their Unpacked event and introduce the next-gen Galaxy S handset. Now, the Galaxy S7 (various variants) has been leaking for quite some time now, and new info just surfaced, read on.
The Galaxy S7 Edge specs have been shared by AnTuTu via Weibo (Chinese social network). According to the listing, the Galaxy S7 Edge (SM-G935A) will feature a 5.1-inch QHD (2560 x 1440) display along with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. The device will be fueled by the Snapdragon 820 (the Exynos 8890 variant will probably roll out as well), and an Adreno 530 GPU will be included here as well. The 12-megapixel shooter will be placed on the back of this device, and a 5-megapixel snapper will be available up front. The 12-megapixel camera has been mentioned quite a few times thus far, and it seems like Samsung is not looking to compete with other in terms of megapixel count, but is focusing on sensor quality. This 12.2-megapixel shooter has leaked out a couple of days ago, and this might be Samsung’s very own sensor (BRITECELL?), but we’ll see. AnTuTu’s listing also confirms that the device will ship with Android 6.0 Marshmallow, and the company’s TouchWiz UI will almost certainly come pre-installed here, unless Samsung opts to change its name or something to that effect.
The Galaxy S7 Edge will be made out of metal and glass, and according to various rumors it will resemble the company’s flagships from 2015. The latest report claimed that the Galaxy S7 will be most similar to the Galaxy Note 5, and the ‘Edge’ variant will most likely be identical to the Galaxy S7, but sport a curved display. The physical home button will once again going to be located below the display, and the fingerprint scanner will be built into it. That’s pretty much it, the Galaxy S7 Edge is expected to be announced at the end of February, and rumors are saying that the company plans to introduce quite a few variants of this device, including a standard and curved version of the device, and a phablet variant of it (both with flat and curved display).
