ZTE has released a number of ‘Nubia’ and ‘Axon’ Android-powered devices last year. The company’s Axon devices were focused both on Asian and international markets, while the Nubia handsets were more or less limited to China and parts of Asia. That being said, ZTE has announced the availability of Nubia.com site during CES last month, and along with that basically said that Nubia is becoming an international brand. We’re sure that the company will share more details soon, perhaps even during the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona which kicks off soon.
That being said, ZTE has already announced their press conference at MWC, which will be held on February 21st. This day is already packed with various announcements, not only will Samsung announce their Galaxy S7 flagships, but LG also plans to introduce the company’s G5 flagship smartphone. Well, ZTE will also show what they have, and the company has just released a new teaser on their official Weibo (Chinese social network) page. If you take a look at the provided image, you’ll get to see the date of the announcement, and what seem to be a teaser for the company’s upcoming smartphone. Now, there’s always a chance ZTe plans to re-announce one of their already announced devices, and make it international in a way, but there’s also a chance this is a completely new smartphone. We doubt this is the new Nubia Z11, that handset is expected to be announced in the coming months, but it could be a new Axon handset perhaps. We can only guess at this point considering no info leaked out recently, but we’re definitely looking at a smartphone announcement here.
The company’s Nubia Z9 handset which was announced last year is really interesting, it sports no bezel on the sides, and is made out of metal. The company has also introduced the Nubia Z9 Mini and Z9 Max handsets, which resemble the Nubia Z9, but are not that sleek looking. ZTE definitely has the technology and resources to surprise us this year, and the first surprise might come in a couple of days. If any new info surfaces before the announcement, we’ll make sure to let you know, stay tuned.
