Galaxy S7 To Be Available At Cricket Wireless From March 18th

Cricket Wireless has announced that the recently launched Galaxy S7 smartphone from Samsung will be available at the company’s retail stores nationwide as well as on its official website from the 18th of this month. According to the company’s press release, the device will carry a $649.99 price-tag for the 32 GB model. Last month itself, Cricket Wireless had announced its plans of carrying the device on its network, so now the company is finally making good on that promise. For those buying the device on or before April 1st, Samsung is also offering a Gear VR headset for free, alongside a 6-game bundle that reportedly comes with a price-tag of around $50. The latest virtual reality headset from Samsung costs $99.99, so together with the games, the entire lot of freebies has a retail value of about $150. Cricket says the offer is a promotional one that will run only as long as stocks last, so those wanting to get their hands on the latest smartphone from Samsung should work fast.

Samsung had launched the Galaxy S7 recently at the MWC (Mobile World Congress) trade show held early last month in Barcelona, Spain. The device was launched alongside the Galaxy S7 Edge, which however, is conspicuous by its absence at Cricket as of now. Cricket also isn’t saying anything about carrying it later on either. Cricket Wireless, of course, is the wholly-owned subsidiary of America’s second-largest wireless service provider – AT&T Mobility. The company works as a prepaid brand whose services start at $50 per month for unlimited talk, text and 5 GB of high-speed LTE data, and goes up to $60 for the same plan with 10 GB of data access instead of just 5.

The Galaxy S7 is Samsung’s latest flagship smartphone that was unveiled just last month, as mentioned earlier. The device features a 5.1-inch Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen display and comes with 4 GB of RAM as standard. The variant launched in the US is powered by Qualcomm’s MSM8996 Snapdragon 820 chipset, which comes with a CPU with four custom Kryo cores from Qualcomm. There’s also a separate variant that comes with Samsung’s own Exynos 8890 Octa SoC that incorporates an octa-core CPU with Samsung’s custom Mongoose cores accounting for four of the eight cores in play. Either way, it’s the 32 GB Black Onyx version that’s being offered by Cricket Wireless at the moment, and although the Galaxy S7 does have a 64 GB model, there’s no word if and when that one will be stocked by the company.
