3GB RAM Variant Of Meizu PRO 6 Spotted On GeekBench

Meizu has introduced two flagship devices last year, the Meizu MX5 and PRO 5. The Meizu MX5 was the company’s flagship smartphone in a way, and the PRO 5 was their flagship phablet, and also the most powerful handset they’ve ever introduced. That being said, the company has introduced PRO 5’s successor last month, the Meizu PRO 6. The PRO 6 is a smartphone, not a phablet, it sports a 5.2-inch display, and it was announced only half a year after the PRO 5, which seemed like an odd move by the company, but there you have it. The Meizu MX6 is expected to arrive in the second half of this year, at least according to the latest info.

The Meizu PRO 6 is quite a powerful smartphone, it packs a 5.2-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080) Super AMOLED display, 4GB of RAM, it is made out of metal, and fueled by the Helio X25 64-bit deca-core processor manufactured by MediaTek. The device also ships with a 21-megapixel camera, and Android Marshmallow out of the box. As you can see, Meizu has opted to release only the 4GB RAM version of the PRO 6, while the PRO 5 arrived in both 3GB and 4GB RAM flavors. We were wondering if the company has any intention of releasing the 3GB RAM PRO 6 smartphone, and judging by a Geekbench listing which surfaced at the end of March, that might actually happen. According to the GFXBench listing which surfaced on March 22nd (before PRO 6 launch), and was spotted just recently, Meizu might be working on a PRO 6 model with 3GB of RAM on board. The device was able to score 2,061 points in the single-core, and 6,691 points in the multi-core test. Just like the regular Meizu PRO 6, this device comes with Android Marshmallow, on top of which you’ll find the Flyme 5.2 UI. The processor remains unchanged it seems, this device is fueled by the Helio X25, same as the regular Meizu PRO 6.

This handset might be a new version of the PRO 6, but on the other hand, it might just be a test model which surfaced before PRO 6’s launch. Either way, we’ll make sure to let you know if Meizu opts to release a more affordable PRO 6 variant, stay tuned.
