Celebrities in mobile games is starting to become more mainstream with a recent announcement from Glu and celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay about an upcoming game called Gordon Ramsay Dash, which you can now pre-register for if you’re the type to enjoy time management cooking games like Diner Dash. Beyond celebrity mobile titles, popular music artists like Bjork have partnered with HTC to release a unique experience in virtual reality for her album titled Vulnicura. Now, another popular musical artist, deadmau5, is partnering up with Absolut to offer a unique VR experience of his own through the launch of an upcoming game called Absolut deadmau5.
More than just a game, deadmau5 is also releasing a specially designed Google Cardboard viewer with his signature logo emblazoned on the front, which consumers will be able to pick up for $17.95 at absolutdeadmau5.com. Of course, the headset is in limited supply, so if you’re a fan of deadmau5 and enjoy limited run stuff like this, then you’ll likely want to grab one of these while you can. While the game will be playable with the VR viewer, users will also need to download the app itself, which will be available in the Play Store for free. The game also uses a unique blend of CGI with live action recording to make the player feel more immersed in what’s happening around them.
Once players pick up the game to give it a go, they’ll be thrown into a world where they must help deadmau5 reach his destination – a night club where he is performing on stage with a brand-new track in front of a huge crowd. The new music track is also not just an in-game offering, as players will be able to pick up the track to listen to as well. The track as well as the app will be launching next month on July 27th, but those who pre-order the limited deadmau5 Cardboard viewer will be able to get the app as well as the track early so they can get a jump start on the experience before everyone else.
