Meizu has introduced three smartphones this year, the Meizu M3, M3 Note and PRO 6. All of these devices were announced back in April, the first two are mid-range offerings, while the latter one is company’s all-new flagship. That being said, Meizu seems to be planning to introduce some new hardware soon. The Meizu M2 Metal (or M3 Metal, we’ve heard it both ways) has been certified by TENAA (China’s equivalent to the FCC) already, and Meizu has scheduled a June 13th event, which more or less confirmed that that phone will be launched. Well, according to the newly surfaced info, Meizu might opt to change the name of this handset, read on.
According to China’s tech blog, Sina Tech, Meizu will opt to call this device the Meizu M3S instead of Meizu M2 / M3 Metal. We don’t know why would Meizu opt to change the name of Meizu M1 Metal’s successor, but there you have it. According to TENAA’s listing, this metal-clad smartphone will sport a 5-inch HD (1280 x 720) display, 2GB / 3GB of RAM and 16GB / 32GB of native storage (expandable up to 128GB via a microSD card). This handset will be fueled by MediaTek’s MT6750 octa-core processor running at 1.5GHz. The 13-megapixel shooter will be located on the back of this phone, and a 5-megapixel snapper will be available up front. The 3,000mAh battery will also be a part of this package, and it will not be removable. Android 5.1 Lollipop will come pre-installed on the Meizu M3S, and it seems like Meizu’s Flyme UI will ship on top of Google’s OS instead of YunOS which came with the Meizu M1 Metal last year. This device will measure 153.6 x 75.6 x 8.3mm, while it will weigh 166 grams.
This smartphone will be announced on June 13th, and you can expect it to be quite affordable, though we still don’t have any pricing info to share with you. In addition to the Meizu M3S, this company is also expected to introduce the Exynos-powered Meizu PRO 6 Plus on June 30th, at least according to the latest leak. Rumors say that the device will be fueled by the Exynos 8890 SoC which can be found in Samsung’s newest flagships, which basically means this will be Meizu’s all-new flagship.
