ASUS had introduced three ZenFone 3 smartphones back in May, the ZenFone 3, ZenFone 3 Ultra and ZenFone 3 Deluxe. These handsets are direct successors to the ZenFone 2 lineup which was initially launched back in January last year, though ASUS did introduce a number of additional ZenFone 2 handsets throughout 2015. Having that it mind, it seems like we’ll have a similar situation in 2016, we did expect for ASUS to introduce a number of ZenFone 3 smartphones this year, and it seems like two additional handset might be on the way, read on.
The fourth and fifth member of the ZenFone 3 family will be called ASUS ZenFone 3 Laser and ZenFone 3 Go TV, it seems. The ZenFone 2 Laser arrived in August last year, so the timing sure seems to be right for its successor to land, and one model number spotted at Bluetooth SIG suggest that the ZenFone 3 Go TV might land as well. There are five models listed by the source actually, the ASUS_Z01BDC, ASUS_ZC551KL, ASUS_Z01BD, ASUS_Z01BDB, and ASUS_Z01BDA. Most of these models point towards ZenFone 3 Laser variants, but one in particular is clearly the all-new ZenFone 3 Go TV smartphone, though it remains to be seen if ASUS intends to keep that name.
The model number of ASUS ZenFone 2 Go TV’s was ZE551KL, and the model number mentioned by Bluetooth SIG is ZC551KL, which clearly indicates that the ZenFone 3 Go TV might be on the way. According to the listing, this smartphone will sport a 5.5-inch 1080p (1920 x 1080) IPS display, and will ship with a 13-megapixel rear-facing, and an 8-megapixel front-facing camera sensors. The listing also indicates that you’ll get 5GB of free web storage space for life. Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow will come pre-installed on this smartphone, and on top of it, you’ll get ASUS’ ZenUI Android skin. That is more or less it as far as its specs go, but we do expect a fingerprint scanner to be a part of this offering, and same can be said about the metal build. These new ZenFone 3 phones are expected to land in the coming weeks, but we do not know how much will they cost just yet, nor in which regions will they be available at launch.
