UPDATED-Download: Google Plus v8.6 Lets You Add Images In Comments

Yesterday, Google took to their own social media platform, Google Plus, to discuss some upcoming changes to, wouldn’t you know it, Google Plus, as it only seems like a fitting and right place to do so. Part of their post was about the new design that was introduced last Fall becoming the default look for the service, but also new features like the upcoming support for images in the comments section on Google Plus for the web as well as the Google Plus app on Android devices, and it seems that Google Plus v8.6, which includes this new comment feature is starting to rollout to users now. If you didn’t catch the initial details from Google yesterday, Google Plus will now let users insert images into the comments, something which has never been available with the service before but has been highly requested. In addition to this, it’s now also possible to see link previews in the comments when you post a link. While posting links in Google Plus comments sections is not new, you were only ever able to see just the link, now you’ll see a preview of what that link is about without having to squint and try to read all the bits of the link itself, which should be a very welcomed change.

As both images and link previews are now supported in the Google Plus comments section, the app also now has a slight tweak to the visual appearance for when creating a comment, as there are now buttons for inserting an image and for inserting the link which will appear as a preview of that web page to anyone who see it in the comments after it’s been posted. It’s also worth mentioning that Google allows you to delete any inserted images and links as well so if you either made a mistake and left something out or you pasted the wrong link, the ability to delete it should come in handy. Update: As of today this version of Google Plus that started rolling out to users yesterday, will also have the new community owner and moderator controls that will allow them to reserve posts until they have been reviewed. This feature was mentioned earlier this week, but now it seems to be going live, and alongside the new moderator controls, there will also be a feature that allows users to receive a promotion bump, which essentially makes it so that they can post to the community without having their posts require a review.
