Huawei P9 Is EISA's 'European Consumer Smartphone 2016-2017'

We’ve seen a number of really interesting smartphones hit the market thus far in 2016. Various companies released their flagship offerings, and in addition to that, a number of compelling budget smartphones also hit the market. Now, we’re here to talk about one smartphone in particular, a device that has just received an award by the EISA (European Imaging and Sound Association). Last time we spoke about EISA, was back in August last year, when the Galaxy S6 Edge got the ‘Advanced Smartphone’ award by this association.

That being said, the Huawei P9 just named the ‘European Consumer Smartphone 2016-17’ by the associations, and this is the fourth consecutive year that Huawei’s devices are being recognized by EISA in this category. “We are honored to receive this award from EISA for the fourth year running. This accolade is a testament to Huawei’s commitment to creating new mobile innovations that offer new experiences to users. The exquisite design of the P9, praised by the EISA judges, is the result of exhaustive development and attention to detail from the world’s top industrial designers, and their tireless efforts have culminated in a visually stunning design,” said Glory Zhang, the Chief Marketing Officer at Huawei Consumer BG. It is also worth mentioning that the Huawei P9 and P9 Plus global shipments exceeded 4.5 million as of last month, and according to Huawei, the two devices have been selling best in France, Finland and the UK. The Huawei P9, in particular, is currently available for purchase from a number of stores around the world, and it costs €499 in Europe, for the 3GB RAM + 32GB storage variant.

The Huawei P9 is the smaller of the two flagship devices Huawei had introduced earlier this year, and we’ve already reviewed this smartphone, just in case you’d like to know more. The Huawei P9 sports a 5.2-inch fullHD display, 3GB / 4GB of RAM and 32GB / 64GB of expandable internal storage. The device is fueled by the Kirin 955 64-bit octa-core processor, the 3,000mAh battery is placed on the inside of this phone. There are two 12-megapixel cameras on the back of this smartphone, and a single 8-megapixel snapper up front. Android 6.0 Marshmallow comes pre-installed on the Huawei P9, and Huawei’s Emotion UI 4.1 is placed on top of it. If you’d like to read more about Huawei P9’s specs, click here.
