Leak: Moto Z Play Benchmark Seemingly Confirms Specs

The Lenovo Moto Z Play has recently been benchmarked on GFXBench, revealing and seemingly confirming the specs that have already been listed for the device prior to its upcoming expected launch in the beginning of September. This leaked benchmark also follows recently leaked images of the device in the wild, as well as a certification for the phone by TENNA earlier this month, which is where it was highlighted that this version of the Moto Z would come with certain specifications like the 3GB of RAM and a 5.5-inch Full HD screen. While it’s always possible that Lenovo and Moto could end up launching the Moto Z Play with slightly different specifications than what has so far been leaked, multiple leaks listing off the same specs would suggest that consumers can likely expect the device to come with what’s already been made public unofficially.

In addition to the 3GB of RAM and the Full HD 5.5-inch display, the device will also come running on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow according to GFXBench, which would put it on the same software as the other Moto Z variants which have already launched. Although it isn’t specified in the benchmark details which exact CPU the phone will have inside, it is speculated to be the Snapdragon 625 processor and it is listed as a Qualcomm chipset with 8 cores that clocks at 2.0GHz. The benchmark also details the GPU, which is listed as the Adreno 506, another heavy suggestion that the Moto Z Play will have the Snapdragon 625 inside as it’s the only processor to be paired with this GPU.

On that note, with the Moto Z Play carrying the Snapdragon 625/Adreno 506 combo, the phone will be equipped to support the new Vulkan API which means that it should be fairly capable of handling games that utilize Vulkan for improved graphics. The benchmark also details that the internal memory will be 32GB, while the phone will likely sport a 16MP rear-facing camera with a 5MP camera on the front for selfies and video chat. When it comes to the battery, rumors peg the phone coming powered by a 3500mAh battery to keep the device running, although this is not detailed on the GFXBench listing and it’s always possible that it could be less.
