Motorola Now Offering Unlocked Moto Z Pre-Orders

Earlier this week, pre-orders for unlocked Motorola Moto Z smartphones became available on Amazon and Motorola itself is now also offering them through its official website. The listing estimates that all pre-orders will be delivered on or around next Friday, September 30th. All of this coincides with what was announced at Lenovo Tech World back in June where the company said that the device will debut as a Verizon exclusive and be released for everyone else in September.

Not surprisingly, the Moto Z is still priced at $699 while all of the Moto Mods are sold separately, with prices of individual modules ranging from $20 to $300 depending on whether you’re looking to equip the device with a protective case or a state-of-the-art camera. Still, it’s not like the Lenovo-owned Motorola is asking that kind of money for a mid-range smartphone as Moto Z is truly a fantastic modular device packed with powerful hardware and all kinds of features. More specifically, the phone is 153.3 x 75.3 x 5.2 mm in size and is so incredibly thin that Lenovo actually scrapped the idea of including a standard 3.5 mm headphone jack. Instead of that, the Moto Z ships with a headphone adapter that connects to the device via its USB Type-C port.

Furthermore, Moto Z features a 5.5-inch display with a resolution of 2560 x 1440 which amounts to around 535 pixels-per-inch. The device is powered by the Snapdragon 820 CPU and 4GB of DDR4 RAM, while the graphics are handled by the Adreno 530 GPU. It boasts 32GB of internal UFS storage and a microSD card slot which supports up to 256GB of additional memory. As for its shooting capabilities, Moto Z features a 13-megapixel, f/1.8 rear camera with optical image stabilization, laser autofocus, and a dual-tone LED flash. The phone’s front lens is also quite respectable, sporting a resolution of 5 megapixels and an aperture of f/2.2. In addition to that, there’s even a LED flash on the front of the device. Like most other modern flagships, the Moto Z boasts nano-coating which works as a liquid repellent. All in all, it’s a great flagship if the price isn’t an issue so it’s to be expected that the upcoming unlocked variant will gain at least some traction on the market.
