Honor, a subsidiary of the Chinese tech giant Huawei has announced three new additions to its product lineup earlier today. During a press event held in China, the company has unveiled the Honor Pad 2, the Honor 6X, and the Honor S1 smartwatch. So, all of the rumors about an upcoming announcement of Honor’s next smartphone on October 18th turned out to be correct. But first things first.
The highlight of the event, the Honor Pad 2 is an 8-inch tablet with a 16:10 IPS display boasting a resolution of 1920 by 1200 pixels. It’s powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 616 system-on-chip which is equipped with four high-performance cores clocked at 1.5GHz and four energy-efficient ones running at up to 1.2GHz. The SoC also features the Adreno 405 GPU while the Honor Pad 2 itself has access to 3GB of RAM, 16GB to 32GB of internal storage and a microSD card slot which supports up to 128GB of additional storage. The device has an 8-megapixel rear camera and a 2-megapixel front shooter and is running Android 6.0 Marshmallow reskinned with Emoticon UI 4.1. The Honor Pad 2 supports 4G LTE with voice calling and is powered by a 4,800 mAh battery. The device is available in Gold and White color and will launch in China priced at 999 yuan, i.e. approximately $150. The 32GB version will cost 1299 yuan ($190) while the 32GB variant with 4G LTE will set you back 1499 yuan ($220)
As for the Honor 6X, its specs have already been revealed last month by TENAA so there aren’t many surprises in that regard. It’s a 5.5-inch smartphone with a Full HD display fueled by the new Kirin 655 SoC with four 2.1GHz cores and four 1.7GHz ones. Mali T830-MP2 GPU is responsible for its graphics processing and the phone is available in variants with both 3GB and 4GB of RAM. The former comes with 32GB of internal storage while the latter offers double that amount. Regardless of that, storage space shouldn’t be an issue as the Honor 6X is also equipped with a microSD card slot. Other features include a dual-lens rear camera which boasts a 12-megapixel sensor and a secondary 2-megapixel one while the front camera features an 8-megapixel sensor. In addition to that, the Honor 6X is equipped with a fingerprint reader, a 3,340 mAh battery with fast charging support, and a hybrid SIM slot. It will be available in Blue, Grey, Silver, Gold, and Rose Gold with prices ranging from 999 to 1599 yuan, i.e. $150 to $240.
Last but not least, the Honor S1 smartwatch is a circular fitness watch with removable straps which boasts water resistance of up to 50 meters and features a built-in heart monitor. The smartwatch will be available with Orange, Black, and Blue straps and Honor have confirmed that all variants will be priced at 699 yuan ($100). All three devices will be available for preorders as of tomorrow and are hitting the market in China on October 25th.
