Verizon Ad Promotes The Daydream View VR Headset

Google’s Daydream View headset made a debut at their event on October 4th, but it had been rumored long before then. After initially being unveiled, consumers are now simply waiting on their chance to pick one up, with those who pre-ordered a pixel or Pixel XL getting the chance to snag one at no cost. While the headsets are still not available for purchase, though you can pre-order one for the $79 cost, Google and Verizon are doing their part to promote the new Daydream View headset alongside both the two Pixel phones.

Verizon’s ad is not a promotion strictly for the Daydream View, rather it’s an ad promoting the Pixel phones being available through the Verizon network, and that customers can save up to $400 when buying the phone if customers switch from another carrier and trade in their old devices. Having said that, the short but sweet ad spot does briefly highlight the Daydream View, calling it a “stunning VR experience” as a group of four friends travel on a train to their destination while one of them is immersed in a virtual world of content.

Although this is a Verizon ad and one which isn’t focusing on the VR headset, consumers can likely expect to see Google put out their own Daydream View ad(s) to market the device, especially with the amount of marketing they’re already doing for the Pixel and Pixel XL, both on the web and around global areas where the phones are being sold. The Daydream View is set to launch officially later on in November. Both the Google Store and Verizon have separate starting ship dates, with the Google Store pre-orders kicking off the process on November 10th, while Verizon will reportedly start to ship out Daydream View headsets on November 16th which is just about a week later. The Daydream View will come in three different colors and come packaged with a matching remote that is used for navigation of content such as apps, games and more, and it can be used for typing on the Daydream View virtual keyboard, which is Google’s input method for the headset.
